Discuss the various methods you use in music production, from compressor settings to equipment type.

I want to sample from vinyl and the 2000s only have 1 lp filter.

So what do I use to filter the samples that I am recording into my mpc?

(I have no 8 out expander)

Thanks

I just eq before sampling (without the 8 outs).

I bought an MFC-42 a few months ago and after learning it a bit I decided to sell it and use the money for something that would be more useful to me.

But just equing limits you in how much you can filter your sounds.

Cause I want to sample drums and actually make them sound good with having to add compression or take it to a studio.

I don't have a great knowledge or 'know how' for filters, but I think you're right.

That's just me though. I get by and make do with EQ'ing. If you have the cash, buy a filter module... I would. But for me, there are other things that are more important in my setup to spend money on.

filters are important, eqs do some filtering and some are filters but not all of them have hi pass lo pass andwhatever the one is that has both that you can more lo or hi and just get whats in its path. to get a bass line out of a song you need filters, not eq.

couldnt tell you which is best, but if your thinking about getting a filter module I'd consider looking at one of these:

i FILTER samples threw my fantom XR rack. THe filters on that thing are amazing and since it has a CF card reader i transfer samples back and forth between the rack and the MPC via CF card

KORG MS-20. :!:

Get one of those if you can afford one...or find someone willing to sell it.

You won't regret it.
