Biggest piece of advice I have, that I share with anyone who likes music.

Do music for you. Do it because you enjoy it, make it a hobby 1st. Everyone around me wants to get into beats as a "day job" and move units on the regular. It ain't like that homey. Dudes start out with the wrong attitude and motivations. You can't make music with the ultimate intent of getting money, you got to do it from the heart. Dudes make 50 beats and start thinking they're ready to make traffic and charge $300-500 a pop.

Please, you got to earn your stripes before you start with that mess.
I like to spot a dude with nice rhyme and a love for the art of poetry and form a team. No money involved, just good music. If your making good music, then the fans will come, and later down the road you get the money.

The only reason why I started in the first place...Because it is something I enjoy....Making money was never a primary focus......

Buy a cheap drum machine and something with a filter and audio in.

If all your sounds are coming out the MPC things won't sound as dynamic as if youve got 2 or 3 machines with different textures.

That happens to me every once in a while. My S1000's power cord is wobbly. I learned to save after the first 3-4 tumes it happened.

Damn D, your local power sucks.
Sounds like you need a UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply.) It's a good investment to protect both your gear, and your beats. If the power goes off, it'll switch to battery power, and you'll have a good bit of time to save again, and shut everything down.

My neighborhood power sucks too.....the lights are always going bright and then dim, etc. I have a UPS with a voltage regulator. Works great.
I got it at CompUSA - cost between one and two bills.

i feel that but i just moved so i brought the whole studio, and my old neighborhoods power didnt go out like this haha. the thing that sucks is there a UPS right here in my lab but the computer is hooked up to it. theres only 4 outlets that have the battery feature, i just gotta figure out wtf is plugged in them.

It was madd windy today though, i think thats what happened.
