I just received a mpc2000 it has one disk non-oem with the newest o.s. on it (supposedly), everytime I power on the machine with or without the disk i get the same boot disk error, replaced the floppy drive same problem ! how can i create a boot disk from floppy and my pc, I downloaded ver. 1.72 from akai website, its in zip format so should i extract directly to drive a: or should i extract the files to a folder. now as far as the disk goes dont they have to be mpc formatted or can they go directly on a fat partition? please help? the manual for disk operation said something like you have to format a floppy on an mpc first or something just to copy it??
well thanx for any help

that is correct the disk must be formatted on a mpc

i have the mpc2000xl and it can read a fat formatted disk but not a fat32 disk
(if my memory serves me correct)

but anywayz since u change the drive, have u tried a different disk in itself to eliminate it as the issue?
