Drop Ins and Outs..................

How do you guys make your drop ins and outs flow together? Most of the time when I'm making a beat it sounds good when I drop out the sample but alot of time it doesn't flow together. It sounds to.............. I can't even really think of a word for it. I just wanted to know how you guys help your drops flow together.

I usually do most of my breakdowns after the artist has laid lyrics on it. That way, when you do drop it, you are usually emphasizing something that the artist said, like a punchline or a good point. Other than that, you just do what you feel. Some beats don't need any drops, so just do you.

I just thought about what you said knoxx. But I ain't really working with artists so I try and focus on making things intresting instrumental.

Say if I drop the sample out for a few bars then bring it back in. ALOT of times its sounds to.............(i think the word I am looking for is) sudden?

i try to take out the snare then the kick but at the same time adding or droppin a sample mostly adding a sample it all denps on your sound of the song, i feel you what your saying i have that same problem at times with my drop out and drop ins.

try useing a different kick as well thta possible change the feel of it .
i was workin on a colab with some one who sent me some files and and i contructed the song on my mpc , and in the break i switched the drum loop and it really made the difference in the song as far as a break goes.
i may be wrong but it work'd for me , it didnt give it that lose of action in the beat.

try dropping the beat out at the end of every 8 or 16 bars.

i usually add these towards the end of making a beatt and just play about with it. i find that easier cos you can just go by vibe then rather than trying to 'insert' them in places. once you got your beat layed out play about with soloing different tracks at different points for a couple of beats here and there. you should come up with something. also, try droping the whole mix back in on/after the beat of your snare.

i think it depends on when you drop it out. if its in a spot where it is too "sudden" it wont sound.....natural? but i think if you drop it out at the right times it should sound ok...

yeah i like doing that ish, its nice to mess with. i usually have one low-pass, one high-pass on the same sample. drop out with the low-pass, drop in with both etc...
