MPD16 PRICE DROP

This must've happened sometime during the week, since the last time I checked they went down from $249 to $199. Now they're selling for as low as $149. Looks like they gotta keep it cheaper than the M-Audio Trigger Finger, given the lack of controllers on the MPD16.

IMHO, the MPD16 was WAY overpriced at $250.
$149 is more realistic, though still not cheap.

just bought one last night. Waiting for it to ship. I looked at the mpd but i like the trigger fingers controllers. The mpd is too dry for me. I dont even use the knobss and shit that much on my radium, but its real nice to have around. But hopefully this will complete my laptop rig.

yup. and a midi controller interface. its great for reason. The whole reason i got it though was cuase it has the transport functions right on the front. That was my biggest grip with pc recording. having to hit the mouse to play, stop, rewind etc... the faders are cool and you can assign them to any function. Its 2ins, 1 line out, one phono, and midi i/o. so its pretty cool for what i need.

damn bing, your going to win me over. I admire the route you've taken. Now that you got all that, what do you need the MP for, sequencing everything?


You know I'm an analog/no computer type of guy, but compare your portable set up to my midi and audio cables tangled up, 150lb mixer having, electricity eating, high bill having, stationary setup I got going on.

had an ozone usb but it had no midi input which pi$$ed me of so i sold the lil fu<k.

well i basically wanted two rigs. One for the road, and the one using the desktop rig with the mpc. My desktop rig is where i got all my records, mixer, monitors, cd recorder and ish. So i just needed something for when im at work, and when i go on the road. And to chill in my living room, out in the woods, whatever. I just want to be able to make a beat whenever i possibly can whereever i am. I just needed a midi controller to complete the rig and when this joint comes in im straight.

yer man... i feel the same. its good to be able to kick it wherever and make a beat. now i've gotten quite lazy with my desktop setup tho. it took my laptop breaking down for me to go near it again. cant wait to get my laptop fixed cos i love mixing down my beats outside of the studio or wherever wid some headphones. like its nice to be able to choose an enviroment to work in sometimes. spending long hours working on the same thing inside the same four walls can be uninspiring. take your laptop and do it wherever, thats what im feelin.

yea, i use the x station 25 as a midi interface to hook up my mpc to ableton and also as a sound card. its so much easier editing my mistaps on the mpc with midi editing on ableton.

wow we live in a very funny world. about two years ago i stated this (the picture) setup can compete with any hardward setup. i thought the forum was going kill me for making that statement. everyone was saying hardware was the way to go, remember? it is the feel of the hardware that makes it better than a software setup. the sound of the software does not sound as good as the hardware. now two years later ... look at what we have.

on the lappy (p4, 3.4 mhz, 2 gig of ram, 80 gig hd and 160 lacie external hd) i am running cubase sl 3.0, live 5, reason 3.0, battery 2, intakt, rmx 1.5, trilogy, hypersonic, kontakt/kontakt 2, sampletank xl, b4, lounge lizard, fm7, pro53, ravity(s)/ravity(16), saxlab, reakor 5, kompakt, virtual guitar electic edition, absynth 2 and atmosphere. i use echo indigo i/o for soundcard.

i am selling my mpd16 for $100 and the tascam 424 soundcard for $200.

i think people jumped on you casue of your attitude. You basically told people they were stupid for owning hardware and that it was a waste of money and "why would you own an mpc if you had a pc?" and the like. That is why i got irrated with you and i think others were also. To me its to each his own. I find that a mix of both is the best for me. But i need a travel rig so thats were the pc shines when the mpc is at home.

anyone used an mpd16 or trigger finger with fxpansion Guru? would be a nice combo.
