Yo what does the chromatic function do in Bluebox? Why do you need it? When would you use it? BUT here is my real question: I want to take a specific sample and put it on my MPC as if it were on a keyboard to use the different octaves on that sample. I am not trying to Tune the sample I want to get octaves or Notes. Can anyone who is experienced help me?????

i'll answer your first question since i don't understand your 2nd

auto chromatic makes the midi notes start at A1 - midi 35 and proceed upwards. this is very very nice when dealing with rex files, akp imports and such.

I am not trying to Tune the sample I want to get octaves or Notes.

what?

I don't know what you mean when you say you don't want to tune your samples but if you wanna play like a kb you need to assign same sample to all pads and tune up and down as you please. 16 levels tune function don't work with a keyboard.

Octave is bottom pad to top pad ye get me?

everyone on this thread is talking about the same thing. a chromatic scale on a keyboard is the same as playing every key in consecutive order. like what was said above 'to play in octaves' so to answer the very first question, that is what the chromatic function in blue box will do to your sample.

but bluebox doesn't set the sample pitch to chromaticc, just the midi notes....right? i make all my drumsets chromatic after assigning the samples to pads in bluebox just to get the midi notes from conflicting...

I use Blue Box almost everyday. There is not anything buggy about it!
Please let us know about the "bugs" you are encountering, perhaps they are just user error? We may be able to help you out!

from what i read of capshun, he's a man who likes to stay inside the box...and i don't mean that in a bad way....i've never heard anyone tout the extract function more than this kid. he talks about it in every post where chopping/zoning/recycle is mentioned. it's as predictable as the sun's setting. he seems to have the same perspective on bluebox - computer = bad.

capshun, your workflow tends to be one where you stay in the mpc1000 at all times. that's cool, cuz your production is damn good anyway, so don't feel like we're criticizing. however you might find that you save more time making pgms in bluebox - ESPECIALLY when you're making a new pgm in the middle of a project and find yourself having to scroll through hundreds of samples for every pad just to assign the notes.

i have a feeling waxaegeis is going to be doing something with the akp imports soon. it's a good program, and it's saved me about a hundred years of misery.

ReCycle skips assigning samples to MIDI note #35, so that's why imports of ReCycle-generated AKPs into BlueBox skip the first pad.

My plan is to modify the import process by adding a prompt for the user to state if the imported program came from ReCycle. If it did, it will adjust the pad/note assignments so that Pad A01 isn't skipped.

If anyone can please send me a ReCycle-generated AKP file, I can get this feature worked out. I don't need accompanying samples, just the AKP file. Please send to [email protected]. As soon as I can get some help on this, the sooner I can get this knocked out. Thanks for your help.
