MPC 2000XL AND THE ASR10???

I want to buy an ASR10 keyboard so my question is are the two compatible? If so, how? I would like if someone could give me a set up tip. Thanks.

Compatible with regards to what? Midi? Midi is a standard. If something has midi ports is more than likely to be compatible.

You gotta try and be more specific with your questions.

What I mean is, if I were to buy a ASR10 how would I hook it up to my MPC? Do I have to use the midi setup or can I use another setup? I kind of suck at hooking up equipment. I'll take any advice I can get, thanks.[/i]

im doing the same thing abicus. im pretty sure you can hook them both up midi because that is what i am gonna do. sample with asr 10 and sequence in mpc. if im wrong someone please correct me tho so i know what im doing when i finally get my asr 10. thjanx

Yeah, you and ABICUS can conenct the two via Midi. Use either one as slave or master.

You can do it either way but it seems like more people are used to using MPC's sequencer so that will work out for you also, whatever you are comfortable with man. I have an ASR10 and 2kxl and have done it before and it's a beautiful thang.

just becase midi has a standard it dosent mean all companies follow that, some even have there own type of midi like roland(in some of its produts) also a lot of older machines do have trouble when it comes to midiing it up to new machines like for example my sp1200 and my triton studio they work toghter but the things you have to do to make it work what a headace!!
but yes the mpc works great wit the asr10 so great you dont have to change anything in the asr but the inst to local that way the mpc wont sound through the asr and as far as sequncing goes you can push rec on asr and rec your pattern on your asr with the mpc in sync and then jump to the mpc and push rec and rec a pattern on the mpc with the asr in sync without having to change any paramerters so when your in the groove you can bounce back an fourth without delay

also you can run your mpc audio output into the asr inputs and add effects to your drums if you want

That will help ALOT if you like the ASR effects on MPC samples. Your ASR can be your effects module in a way. Another easy thing about that is that you only need to connect the ASR outs to your pc seeing as the ASR inputs are constantly monitored in almost any mode.

that is what i forgot to say thanks. that is defintly a feature i like. I have been using my triton studio for a year now, and the only reason i bought it was because it has taken so many features from the asr 10 and improved on them (no more wating 30 minutes to timestrech a sample) but the asr mpc combo is a classic you cant go wrong with

Yeah, I'm trying to sell my triton classic 61key to get a studio because of the charged up ASR-like features same as you. I wanna be like you when I grow up. haha

yeah you can...those are my main 2 pieces of equiptment...i have them synched up with other and also with my 16track recorder....it works just fine...if you have any problems or questions when you get it just holla Ill be glad to help. I was once in your shoes and not too long ago grew out of em so i know what it feels like to have equipment that you dont know how to connect together.
