pad permanent assign possible?

hello everybody, im a total newbie and just bought a mint conditions 2nd hand mpc2000xl, name is Giona and i live in milano , italy.

my first question is:

i programmed my drumpads in the program view under "MASTER" mode, supposing it will change the master assigns of the pad,
then rebooted the lil nasty monster, and pads are as they were before my changes.
can anyone enlighten me on how to set my pad set permanently please?

i use it with external gear too (novation bassstation rack version, quasimidi tecnox and my beloved akai s-950,plus some fx) and actually im sequencin stuff on cubase (given that i do ultra fast music over 200 bpm and the usual way to write on the mpc is still a bit obscure to me) and bounce midi to the mpc,
plus i found out that awave studio can convert anything to .pgm format, so im dumpin all my chopped breax to it!!! easy life!!!!

you need to save your programs to a disk. save an .aps file, that will keep all of your sounds on the pads you chose.

so it is DEFAULT that ,said, pads a1 to a8 are like:
37 , 36 , 42 , 75 , 38, 39 ?

i find it pretty odd!

are u sure there is no way to set them in a more "logical" (read: sequential) way?

p.s.: i dont mean assignin SOUNDS to pads permanently, i mean to set the default pad= note order permanently!

i dont want to have the same samples mapped to the same keys\pads always, just pad\note relation

i know lotta peeps arent used to read manuals,
im on the other side. im a manual-geek 100%

unluckily, when i initialize pad assignments, they always show up the same irrational sequence....

and o matter if i assign em rite, when i reboot they are still messed up.

update:

even tried to initialize the whole machine,

always the same:
pads:

a01=37 a02=36 a03=42 a04=82

it seems like its set as this by default, so, when u buy an mpc2kxl, its always set up like this by default?

if not, why mine is?

there is some hidden screen to manage this?

this thing is frustratin me a bit-
also coz it means that in every new program i have to re assign pads, or keep a saved blank program to start with, which s ok but given that im actually writin patterns on cubase it will be useless.

the pad layout has been discussed many times. It's in the archives and it is at the oldest place for MPC info on the Web, midicase.com

As a side note, for all the years I have used MPC's, I have yet to find a good reason to remap the pads (someone can mention them, but I have already heard them all).

Like Itchy and MPC3k were getting at, there is no way to permanently assign the note numbers the way you are describing. Everytime you reboot they will show up the same way. You have to make a template (PGM and/or APS) and save it, then use that template when you make a song.

i agree is not a universal need but on the other hand, i have yet to find a good reason why they are mapped that way!

why 37,36,42,88,etc?

or every mpc got his random assignement?

mpc3k's word is bond from what I've always read and my own experiences have shown me.

Also I take Rohan's word as a fact and not simply a statement, same as above.
