tracking in protools

MY friend leon has a MPC-4000, triton, motif and two sound modules. The Sound modules , triton, motif are connected to the MPC-4000 through midi. Outputs from all of his equipment are connected to a 24 channel mixer. He now wants to take his music to the next level by tracking his songs in pro tools for mixing and editing. How would he go about doing that. How can he get all of his tracks in pro tools on there on seperate channels for mixing. Please tell me what wires, cables or hardware that he would need?

Get the 001 or 002, a couple of 1/4 connections and group your channels on the mixers outs to the 001 ins, then have PTLE trigger your MPC and the rest of your equipment will play. You can record one to eight tracks at once depending on how you work.

you can get pro tools to trigger the mpc through 1/4 inch connections? i thought you needed some kind of MIDI connection in order for it to trigger.

i'm also having the same dilemma.

If you get the 8 out adat expansion for the 4000 you can run that into the 001 or the 002 and still have 8 more inputs left for the keyboards and sound modules. Now run a midi cable out from the MPC and set it to send midi beat clock and MMC and set PT to receive midi beat clock and MMC, adjust the tempo in PT to match the tempo of the MPC sequence, hit record in PT and push play on the 4000 and watch 16 wavs get drawn on your computer monitor in sync. It's so pretty!!!

your a genius! by the way to coocooo, you want to set the MPC to receive the MMC, and PT to send. i record 2 to 8 bars to save hard drive space.

While that way also works I prefer to use the transport on the MPC, more cuz that's the way I've always done it then anything else. I suppose it would be more convinient to just use the transport in PT though.

As far as the input, you can use the s/pdif inputs as well(if any of your modules have s/pdif outputs) for a total of 18 tracks in one pass.

how many inputs does the 002 have

18!!! 8 analog, 8 adat, stereo s/pdif!
