No, no...I know ho to apply the swing and shift settings per TRACK, what I'm saying is mathematically, how is the swing setting applied to the song, for instance say you record 4 bars from you MPC to ProTools and loop that, are you losing swing compared to say using song mode and just recording your final mix as a whole and not chunks.
Im saying im sitting here tracking this song bar by bar in pro tools and it doesnt sound as funky as when i play it directly from the MPC.

Its not a PT question, its a tracking question, basically does the MPC change the shift/swing per bar or is the same swing equation in each bar.

I'm going to say same swing equation every bar. Swing is per bar if I'm understanding my MPC correctly. If you take a single bar it should have the same swing as 2 bars only with the 2 bars it is repeated 2 times.
If I'm wrong someone else help a brother out. I've tested, listened and I'm thinking I explained it correctly.

Lampdog seems to know where im going, Coocoo the MMC is not the problem, I got that shit in check. I can track a song perfectly aligned in less than 10 minutes.

You can hear the difference if you take one 4/4 bar and add 16 closed hhats to it, now swing it however you want.
Now make the same sequence but using 2 bars instead, notice that the swing pattern is repeated each new bar.

basically does the MPC change the shift/swing per bar or is the same swing equation in each bar.
I'm pretty sure the only way the swing would change per bar is if you did it on purpose or accident, for example, if you had a 4 bar sequence and add another 4 bars at a later time and manually change the swing setting for those bars. So I'm pretty sure the answer to the question is no.
The thread I pointed you to was refering to MTC not MMC but I would imagine that midi beat clock and MTC are both sufficient for syncing your gear. It sounds to me like you have PT set up as the master and the MPC as the slave. Are you sending midi beat clock from the MPC to PT or the other way around? That was the problem itchyvinyl was having. If you send midi beat clock from PT then the MPC will follow the PT clock which of course will override the slaved MPC's timing. If this is not the case then I can't imagine what's wrong but make sure and post back when you figure it out as it's always good to find new solutions to common problems. Good luck!

If the MPC is slaved to PT I wouldn't think it would matter. The midi messages are set by the MPC telling each beat to hit at a certain point. PT should only control the tempo and start and stop point. Also, if you set a heavy swing earlier or later, either the beginning or end of a patter; the instrument you swing may be chopped off. You could try making your pattern into a song, and let PT trigger the MPC (slave) and then go back and chop up the song into patterns?

All this feedback is cool, and Im aware of all the possibilities, but this isnt a major issue, its like a subtle thing, it could be in my head as a result of seeing my audio in blocks on a screen.
Again im saying though, this has nothing to do with PT, in fact forget ProTools, just want to know if the MPC builds up the swing gradualy to say achieve 57% after say 8 bars or if it happens per bar.

I just re-read the whole thread, I misunderstood the question, sorry about that. I thought you were losing the swing while tracking in PT, as was itchy's problem.
To answer your question though, I'd say definitely not. The swing function shifts all the notes a specific percentage according to the timing you specify(1/8,1/16,etc.). It does not build up the swing. I don't record with swing initialy, I add swing afterwords so I can a/b the swing effect. Again I apologize for the confusion.
