with all this talk of painting, i decided to do it also. im just concerned if i get a paint, paint it, and realize it peels.

do you prime it, or whats the deal? ive never painted plastic before.

also, should i put a coat of something that protects the paint? if so what?

no you need no primer

you will take it apart

lay it out and spray it

put multiple coats on it

it will not peel

if you want to give it a glossy look put some clear coat on it

i chose to use no clear coat and the paint job is doing just fine

take your time

Use KRYLON FUSION for the plastic sides

my pops is a carpenter. definitely apply some clear coat finish at the end, but make sure it's a glossy kind that WON"T RUB OFF OR GET STICKY. this goes for your spraypaint too. the oil in human skin often reacts with spraypaint on metal, and after a while you're left with something that looks really really dirty and feels sticky.

make sure you ask some questions regarding this when you buy some spraypaint, and i really suggest getting some nice finish - this will make your mpc shine and will also protect it from the worn down sprayed look...

Sorry to invade yer thread but I didn't want to start a new one.

I want my MPC green. Is there a type of paint that I could spray a yellow translucent coat over the blue?? Does this exist...

Yeah I'll be giving special care to the purple buttons... Purple!?

yeah man PURPLE!!!!!!!! hahaha

i dont think there is a miracle paint thta will mix an already dried blue, sorry bud. maybe just find a paint store that customizes spray paints. i have on in my city, they can make a colour and name it for you. so everytime the ycheck out thier computer and enter the name, it gives them the same ratios. i wish i had known about that BEFORE i bought my paint.

my mpc is drying right now as we speak, i plan on doing 4 coats or so,

can anyone give me an idea of how much i should put on?

i dont want to put it on too thick, cause i dont want it to grind off if its a tight fit.

i'll have pics up as soon as she dries, and sits for a day or so.
