I'm beginning to think I'm not buying

Like the header implies, I'm not too sure anymore.

Since I sold my mpc 1000 I've been thinking I'm holding out untill the 2500 drops. Now it's like I'm just getting all the other ridiculoid equipment I own (Elektron Monomachine keyboard version, Elektron Machinedrum with UserWave sampler and more.. so there I got an opporunity to post that again.)

So I'm thinking I'm staying mpc-free for a while. At least until the mpc2500 drops. I dunno guys. The ppq is what's really having me worried. I played my mpc1000 without T.C. and I was like no way I played my boom bap shit that weak and un-tight. Not twenty five times in a row. Am I that weak? So yeah I'm thinking it's the processor and the ppq and then they go base the 2.5k on that too!

The extra midi connections is gravy though so I might buy it on merit of that alone. I'm too lazy to figure out how to use Midi Thru and I don't like A to trig B when I really just want to trig C. So four midi outs - much easier. So there's my midi headache.

What if I got a Sherman Filterbank 2 instead?

No I'm not into electronica.

Yeah I might buy the 2.5. I just don't know.

I need you to start making some decisions for me.

I'm really feeling not buying this either. Its way to much money and not enough power. Its almost as much as the 4000 and dosn't have half the features.

I may just buy a Used MV for much less then a 2500

But you already had an MV, right? It's a nice combination with the 4000. So is the 2500 though.

Yea I had a MV, but it didnt work in my studio. Since then I moved my studio to a bigger place, now I need something small for Home. The MV may work as a all in one solution to bang out ideas. For the price of a 2500 I could get that and more. Not that the MV is better then a MPC, but if thats all you have it can be a great unit. It just dont work in a Multi midi set up. Program changes suck on the MV. But I can get use to sampling and loading up beats and stuff.

I may just get a 1000 and 2 small EMU units. Lots of options for 2g's.

Sometimes less is more. And if your drums are off it may be you 96ppq it pretty standard for drums for the past 20 odd yrs. But hey quantize and later step in what you want.

Wouldnt a mpc1000 at home be pretty sufficient? I mean, the mv isnt as compatible with the 4000 as the 1000 is.. I guess? Thats something to take into consideration. Bang out ideas at home is pretty useless if you cant easily continue working on them in the studio.

OT: One of the weakest arguments to keep the MPC1000 is beacuase it's small and (gasp) portable. How is the MPC1000 portable? I rather run some of that Symbian made to take along stuff that's around for PDA phones to record loops. I'll live with compability issues and take a SP-404 on the road any day. That is, untill there is an MPC that is acually portable instead of dragwithable and in need of a power outlet. Portable means being able to knock out beats on the subway or the airplane.

no that's battery operated. try to lift a 4000 or a 60, the 1000 is portable.

but i hear you, a battery would be the move. more so than an HD IMO.
