1. WTF!!!! yo akai! you are freakin trippin!!! somebody tell me i didnt just read that in the manual!!

2. also you gotta shift then note repeat to get that timming to go faster or slower.....antbody try and record those note repeats realtime?

3. AND for my "record mutes" hommies i found the work-around......assign volume to the q-link or do it in the automated recording of the mixer!

Peoples expectations were way high. The first run of some of the previous MPC's OS's and functions were not perfect. Did you think this one would be?

Then again, what exactly IS perfect?

When I spend 2G'S on something I expect it to work as advertised out the box.
I dont think that thats much to ask for.

Thats like buying a car and the air condition don't work.

But whatever, I got my 4k and love it but I wont be a beta tester for Akai anymore.
Before the Fusion came out Alessis GAVE the fusion to users to test the OS months before its release. Beta Testers had the Fusion over 1 year before it was released.

Akai should learn from then now that Numark owns them both.

I'm not starting a I hate Akai war here, like I said I love the MPC 4k and others, but lets not just expect and except a bad job.

I hear what you are saying Aprim. I think Akai should hold onto their products and actually finish them before putting them out on the market. If I bought a car and it's supposed to have air conditioning, and it doesn't work or only does half the car I would be pissed. That's why I made the decision to not deal with Akai anymore, or at least not really look into the product for at least 2 or 3 years after it's been on the market.

I don't get it. You read the manual to the car before buying. It explains the car is equipped with air conditioning, however air conditioning is only available on the passenger side. You buy the car and then become extremely dissapointed the air conditioning doesn't work on the driver's side. Who's to blame?

a) Pete Rock
b) You
c) Akai

Did they advertise this sound processing as something that works on stereo samples, then print something different in the manual? Better yet: did you already drop 2G's for new Akai product or do you just act like you did? Do you consider this a flaw, a bug that needs to be worked out, or perhaps just something actually intended for reasons unknown to us at this time - perhaps to ease up on the processor or Akai's OS developpers?

If you're really careful of where you spend your money, how about reading the manual before buying? Just beacuse it's an MPC doesn't mean you should make an ill-informed decision as a consumer.

It would be nice for individuals to actually own/use an item before they comment about what they like/hate about it. Akai doesn't owe you anything. If you buy their products and it doeasn't work as advertised, simply return it for a refund.

But let me save you from all the heart ache. The Chop Shop function works on STEREO and MONO samples as of OS 1.00.

Since the Akai MPC hasn't been really released outside of Asia, how can you make comments on whether it is a finished product?? (Especially oif you don't own one). Akai is not forcing you to buy their products. You can always use what you have or get an MV or Grove Box. You have choices my friends :D

I would agree that Akai should let actual users BETA test MPCs prior to releasing them or new OS. I know I can do better than their current BETA testers

I also read in the manual that you can't change tracks while direct recording.

Jahrome...Is that true??...That was a huge point for me.

Direct Recording function works on one track at a time. You cannot record multiple tracks at the same time using this function.

Once you arm a track for direct recording, you cannot change tracks until you exit this mode. Direct recording is actually sampling to RAM, MPCs don't record directly to hard disk. Its logical (at least to me) that you can switch tracks or do everyfunction in this mode.

In the standard sequence recording modes, you can change tracks while recording.

You will have to wait until the MPC 2500 is at your local Guitar Center/Music Shop to test out the MPC 2500. The manual and no review will help you get a good picture of what this machine can do. Its an MPC...stayed tru to its roots.

OOOOOOOOOppppss

The manual is correct. When you take a stereo sample and use the Chop Shop, it will only convert the left channel of the sample. However, this newly created sample is still sent to the MPCs outs as a stereo sample. In fact..all samples (STEREO or MONO) is output as if they were stereo samples. You will have to use the mixer pan to send a sample out the MPC as a MONO sample.

The only way I see around this is sampling a sample's left and right channelsseperately...than chopping each sample seperately..and assigning both these samples to the same pad. A little work

mpvxt,

Do you really love that V-Synth XT? I seriously have been thinking about one lately...although I was dead set against it because Roland already have too much of my money. I already have several ROMplers as people fondly refer to them. I got rid of all my true analog synths that were collecting dust (I just didn't need them for you analog lovers  ). I even got rid of my extra MPC (I can just order another if mine goes down). So the wife has allowed me about $4000 too spend for the rest of the year:

V-Synth
Neuman or AKG mic
Microphone booth (that I don't have any room for)
MPC 5000 (or MPC 1000 w/ an internal hard drive)
Overpriced custom studio furniture
Go Analog and get rid of my digital mixers...

Damn...I am a gear fiend.....I forgot about working more with the MPC 2500
