SND makes the filter, homepage here... http://www.s-n-d.com/index.html
i bougth it used for about 600$
i really like to filter my drums through it to make the hits blend together..
it also works a bit like a frequency selective distorsion which is a big plus for me, i have the mono version which is +/- 20 dB per band, in the stereo version it's possible to chain the channels to make it +/- 40 dB per band... i will definately get the stereo version if i ever get the money or if i can find a used one
anyway it's nice for beats, i haven't put any bass through it but i can imagine it's nice for that too...

question: does the fb2 have midi?
It does but not to control all the parameters, actually its very limited with MIDI but what is controlable with MIDI is:
pitch wheel - Cutoff Freq filter 1
mod wheel - Cutoff freq filter2
breath control - reso filter 2
foot control- fm depth
expression -am ring depth
portamento - attack on envelops
Unkown control 16-19 also for envelope controls
It can be hyper sensintive or not depending on the sound but it has huge dynamics so you will reach freqencies you cant normally, and one really needs to "Learn" how to use it but if there is one thing to flip having digital only gear get a FB for some Analog mayhem you will be sure to find sounds you want , i have been using mine for 4 years and i always get taken to strange landscapes of sounds, i doubt i will ever sell it

i use a waldorf miniworks, its nice, that moog looks easier.
but not the best all-applications filter like a Filter Factory
more of a speciality item
that does wonders to live instruments!!! like guitar, keys etc.
its mono so not the best for loops.
