it came with the installer disc for my laptop. I uninstalled it straight away.

Dont know much about it dude but some comments here

I get the impression that it is an excellent starting place for anyone that wants to start off in making tracks. Starting off on the right level is absolutely key to longevity; something people seem to forget when giving the standard 'ProTools' response to relative newbie questions...

I think it is very inexpensive so give it a go.. What have you got to lose!!

I use it for small projects or just recording midi files. Pretty good software to be free

my 7 year old cousin uses garageband. i'm not being sarcastic - ANYTHING that gets people into making electronic music is good. give it a go. you'll eventually progress to bigger and better things.

Yeah, but if you choose not to use it, and you're short on hard drive space (does that even happen anymore?), be sure to delete the 2GB of AppleLoops that are automatically installed with Garageband.

My cousin uses that. He'll tell me "Hey, check out this beat that I made" when he should really tell me "Hey, check out this beat that I cut n' pasted together" LOL Not clownin on him or anything, but Ive seen him use it and he doesnt tune up none of the samples, he doesnt filter out a dam thing so the beats that he does play me sound a bit too "I know you didnt make that" type ish LOL

i think its good for free (with mac osx) but would probably get something a bit more advanced like cubase or reason

maybe my last post came across a bit arrogant. But I played with gband for a short while, then thought that because I use Logic and Digital Performer, garageband was just taking space up on my hard drive. my ibook only has 30gigs, so there was no way I wanted tons of loops and an application that i'd never use taking up space.

as a freebee from mac and if that was all you had, then it would probably be a good way to start understanding sequencers.
