what do yall think about this ideal

In past i hear alot of talk about how good the mpc 4000 filters are and you can do more with sounds(tweaks) than you could could on a mpc 2000(xl). Well i own a motif classic and a mpc and i was thinking about the filters on the motif and if there just as good as the ones on the mpc. well as we know the motif has great drums but they do need to be tweak. While i was attempting to do this(just to get good at turn a not so good sound into a good one or one i like) i got some good hard hitting hip hop drums. I started to think about the fact i dont like using computers to tweak my drums(cause i cant triger then move knobs and trigger all in the blink of a eye). I came up with a ideal of how sometime i would like to sample some sounds out the motif into the mpc and the same with the mpc into the mo. Whoa i blew a gasket! I could sample my drum sounds into the motif use all the great fillters to tweak them then resample it back into mpc. so i connect a cord from the mpc outs to the in's of the motif and a cord from the motifs out to the mpc ins. i can sample back n forth with the two. What yall think. Im tring to use my gear to the fullest in any way i can.

Yeah, people have been doing that forever, I'm glad to see you finally caught on and you are enjoying it, now how about doing it straight digital. the Motif has a USB port on it for PC connection correct (I don't have one but I've seen and played with it a little)? Save the samples from MPC to disk, take it to the computer and transfer to Motif via USB, that way it's all digital with no degradation in sound quality. Will that work? Any Motif giants out there to help on this one.

yea yea i feel what you saying...i got a usb reader for my computer so i can save my sound onto my computer harddrive then use my usb reader to transfer it to my motif then resave it and back to my mpc.... good shit!

It's been a while since I had my Motif but I'm pretty sure you can resample anything from the Motif back into the Motif. So if you got some drums (or any sample for that matter) you can just resample it in the Motif with all the fx and tweaks and have a new sample and just save it to zip via scsi and load it directly into the MPC. Also, the Motif is capable of sampling at 22hz so you don't have to spend all day waiting for the MPC to convert your sample to save memory.

This will only work on the ES, the USB interface on the Mo classic is only for midi. Damn! All this Mo talk is makin' me want my ES back!

You gave up an ES, WHY, that's just like one of my friends wanted to get rid of his Triton Studio (full size wieghted keys) and get a Oxygen 8 (the small one). I told him he was outta his mind and I would come over and ruff him up if he did.

I gave it to my cousin for his birthday, I was gonna get another one but it was either another ES or another MPC 2000xl, Proteus 2000 w/ world and pure phatt roms and a Korg MS2000. I needed a new home setup cuz we recently moved all of our equipment to a new spot. I opted for the MPC setup cuz I couldn't make up my mind between the ES and Fantom-s, I ended up flipping a damn coin, the MPC won.

Yeah, I said I wanted to sell my 88 Triton Studio, only because I could convert all the Triton sounds to wav and then load them into my MPC 4000, and then use a midi Keyboard to play the sounds from from the MPC. I didn't think it was a bad idea. What yall think?

thats kinda what i do with drum machines bring em home sample all the sounds then return

I borrowed many of my friends machines and sampled stuff from them.
