The screen size is practically the same size as past MPCs. So no, it is not too small for step edit. If you are talking about the grid edit mode, this is fine as well. But I like the old skool grid edit of the Roland R-70 rhythm composer I had over 12 years ago.

Bumping notes?/ If you are talking about easliy move them from one step to another, yes that is possible/easy.

So is grid edit > step edit, or does it just complement it? So you move notes in grid edit mode "left" and "right", correct? And this can be done in 96 ppq? Personally I do not enjoy working in step edit so I have high hopes for the grid edit.

(I believe grid edit is called step edit on my other drum machines. Sorry for the mixup).

You can choose between the MPC cllassic step edit mode or the grid edit mode. Yes, all the editing can be done at 96ppq in both modes. The grid edit modes does go from left to right.
