I have an MPC2000XL, a computer and a midi keyboard. I want to be able to rhyme over my tracks and record to disk. The guy at the music store says all I need is a good mic and a pre amp and I can hook my mic right up to the MPC. What software program is best to get my songs from my MPC to my computer so I can burn to a CD?

I record my vocals through Sonic Foundry Acid 4.0. I have my MPC and my Mic running through my mixer and my mixer runs to the computer. That way I can record my track into the computer, pull it up in Acid, and record my vocals into Acid. Save as a .wav and open in SoundForge where I compress and volume maximize the song and voila.

On the realtime track effects in Acid you can do the normalize and compress without ever having to go to sound forge cause if you do it in sound forge it's permanent unless you made a copy. Realtime effects are editable.

Do you have the adapter plugs 1/4 to rca (for the mpc line outs)
Do you have a line in on your soundcard?
Do you also have a mic in on that sound card?
Do you have the adapter rca to 1/8 stereo (for the audio cable going from the MPC to the sound card)?
Do you have a multitrack progam (software)?
Do you have a way for the emcee to hear the music via headphones while you record the preformance on computer (maybe a headphone out on the soundcard)
