I got a rack synth with MIDI in/out/thru and a Yamaha keyboard which has a MIDI in/out. I have searched this forum all morning to find out how to hook it up so I can play the keys on the yamaha and have the synth rack sounds play all while sequencing on the MPC (2000XL). After reading a plethora of posts on the subject, I came to the concusion (Thanks to one of Penfolds posts) that the way to do this was to have MIDI OUT of the Keyboard to the MIDI IN on the Synth rack and the MIDI OUT on the Synth rack to the MIDI IN on the MPC. I did this and though I can now hear the sounds of the Synth and play them with the keyboard, I could not record the MIDI notes in my MPC sequence. Simple logic would make me believe that some how I had to have the MPC connected some way with the keyboard (since that's where the notes are.) So I've tried a number of combinations that havent seemed to work. Maybe I need a soft thru on my keyboard as well, any help would be appreciated.
