about 15 mins ago, whilst i was making a beat, the left channel on my speakers, started spluttering, like it was only playing the most "attacking" parts of the sequence. The left channel then started to go down in volume quite slow, going to complete silence in about 30 secs.
At first i wasnt too bothered, I thought it was just my crappy amp dying, (its like from the 70's), but then the right channel did the exact same thing about 2 mins after!

Started to get worried, so i stopped the sequence I was working on, and checked the speaker connections, amp connections ect. but still no signal.
I then restarted the sequence about a min and a half later, got a good clean signal from only the right channel, but then it died down to silence after about 20 seconds.
I tried listening only on headphones, and after stopping the seqence, restarted it, only to hear it on the right channel for about 20 seconds again.

Has this happened to anyone else? Does anyone know what could be happening? Im gonna try it again in the morning, cause im scared i might blow something if I try to do it again now.

Any help would be great, Im Desperate!

2 days from a week-long break from school (allocated beat-week) and 2 weeks from the hot OS, and my Mpc f***ing dies!!!

it is maybe overheating. leave it fully unplugged for an hour, and try again.

otherwise it sounds like a 900$ US dollar paperweight.

well, i unplugged it and left it overnight, and booted it up again in the morning.
Ive had it on for about 15 mins, so far no trouble.
I guess it just over heating ( I had it on pretty much all day), but ive heard some people on the forum always leave it on!?! Surely it shouldnt over heat and screw-up after being on for around 10 hours?!?
Im gonna use it all day today, and see if it does the same thing, then take it from there.
thanks for the advice guys

depends on the ventilation.if you're in a hot climate its gonna over heat much quicker. i never leave my MPC on later than i need to.

well, its been on for like 3/4 hours, and no sound dying!
So it seems it might have been a one-off, but now im kinda paranoid; What happens if it does it again? I guess if i expect it to, i wont be surprised!

thanks again

i'd say with a hard drive in there, a lot more MPC's are going to have overheating issues.

Thats why im happy with just a flash card for now i really dont need a HD as you end up saving all sorts of crap on it, i like the limitation of like 1-2 GIGS , its more than enough also i like only running a few projects at a time and i also feel that the HD will add more heat to the machine

If you want to leave it on for like 10 hours just get a small fan blowing behind it or get a aircon to stabilise the tempreture in the room and the you can have it on for 10 hours no problem
