After you get the zones set, hit edit, and slice sound (this option comes up automatically once you hit edit). you can either create a new program, or have the zones put into the 'current' program. If you don't create a new program, you have to go into program mode, into the assign screen, and manually assign each of the zones to 'available' pads using the the data wheel.
If you create a new program, you still have to assign the zones to the pads you want. And to select that program to use the sounds in a sequence on the main screen, select the track you want to record to and down on the bottom row of the screen when it says 'Drum 1' etc, hightlight that, and select drum 2 or drum 3 or whatever the new program is with the data wheel.
Note: Once you get the start / end points good for each zone, if you then open a different screen (eg. trim, loop, or ANY other screen) you loose those settings you just entered in the zone section. This is something small but it does suck. I've done that a few times by accident and it's a pin in the a$$ to re-zone the sample.
Hope that helps
