buttons on 2000

the buttons on my 2k classic are not working when i first turn on my machine, they are the "tap repeat" and "right cursor", i have push them done really hard to get them to work, after the machne is on about a half hour they seem to work normally, any ideas on what i can do to remedy this situation?

id take the case off and make sure the plastic buttons your pressing are sitting properly on top of the little buttons inside the unit.
