What is strange is that how many of us have complained about the sensitivity of PAD 4 ( please dont reply about pad sensitivity settings as its not that )

Mine is also hyper sensitive acctually i like how sensitive it is but why on most 1K,s is this pad so sensitive i would for sure think its in the manufacturing and design , maybe they very close to the pcb and something but i know Akai needs to adress the PADS issue in these units and make a "Superseeded" part number like other manufactures do when they realise they had bad engineering , as its oviously the case here , anyway anyone read my post on the previous page , has anyone any info on the pads as i asked before

I'll also verify that I've been all over the pad settings - sensitivity (A,B,C,D) etc. That is not the issue. The issue is that the pads are defective.
It's really sad too because the new OS is coming out soon or so they say.

Is it just the actual pads or some type of electical thing or sensor in the mpc.

OK, pad 2's gone on mine now, if I tap it normally I get nothing, if I hit it as hard as I can I can get it up to about 60, but it takes a fairly hard hit to even get it to register a really low velocity. I'm going to have to replace it, but in the meantime I need to swap it over with another pad I don't use so much cause I can't redo all my programs without screwing up my sequences.

dbz, or anyone else who's swapped pads over, how do you do it? I opened my MPC up and got to the point where the pad assembly was off but still attached by the wiring loom. I didn't want to start taking all that to pieces cause I didn't have that much time and wanted it all back in one piece.

So what do you have to do? Do you need to solder anything? A little step by step would be greatly appreciated.

Pad two has gone on mine aswell - one is well iffy too.

Does anyone know the best/cheapest place to get it repaired in the uk?

Also my play/start button has broken free and rattles around in it's slot - can this be repaired?

i have owned mine my 1000 for almost one year and use it 4 days out of the week on average. so far so good. i was wondering if i just buy an mpd-16 and use that as a controller, will it be able to perform the same way expressively rather than repairing my pads (knock on wood) when they do go out?

Don't think you can use note repeat with the MPD. Also you need to use all the pads for accessing different modes.

Totally. I don't know anything about the availability of replacement parts. I was just thinking if that wasn't an option.

No doubt. The same thought crossed my mind at one point as well, but from reading a few related posts, it seems as if the replacement parts are readily available. With the MPC1000's noteriety of this issue, hopefully these parts will be available for a long time since it's unpredictable when they're needed.
