Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Hey, first off I'll say I have just spent a few hours searching this forum and still haven't found my answer. Thats why I'm asking here.

I have successfully synced my MPC 2000 to Cubase SX 3 so when I press play in Cubase my MPC plays. I did this using Midi Clock.

Now, I have two problems:

Problem 1: When I press play in Cubase the MPC plays, but none of the other functions work (back and fourth skip)

Problem 2: The actual sound of my MPC isn't showing up in Cubase. Therefore the record function doesn't work. Now when I check in my soundcard properties window I can see the mixer bouncing. Just not in Cubase.

I have an audiophile 24/96 also incase that helps...

All help greatly appreciated as usual :D

First things first.

Do you have the MPC's audio OUTs connected to audio INs on your computer audio interface?

Do you have a track armed in REC mode - with the input to that track assigned to the same number(s) as the IN jack(s) that the MPC is going into?

Yes, My MPC is plugged into my mixer and my mixer is plugged into the soundcard. Everything is definately set up correct because when I open the soundcard properties mixer I can see my track is coming through.

Well, I have got to the point now were I can record a track into cubase and it appears as a red block. but its recording nothing. Because no sound is actually going into cubase. if you get what I mean? I open the mixer panel in cubase and the levels are not moving one bit. however my monitors are still bangin because the sound is working out my MPC, its just not showing up in Cubase.

I have set my soundcard up as best as I can in Cubase. But I must have missed a step somewhere along the line. If anyone else has the audiophile 24/96 perhaps they might be able to help? I know for a fact its cubase because if I open FLstudio and play my MPC thru there I can see the levels moving in the mixer....

Ok, after 5 hours of **** about I have finally got a decent stage. I am now at the point were everything plays, skips, stops and records.

My only problem now is the latency issue. I have searched the forums and I have seen many people with this problem. But I didn't see an answer to how to fix it. Has the question ever been answered? or is it something people just learn to live with? Personally it seems annoying as hell to me to have to track your audio in then to have to cut it up and move it and shit.

I started a thread about syncing and latency adjustments in the Production Techniques forum a coupla weeks ago.

You need to offset the Time ruler to compensate for the latency. Its a bit of trial and error at first, but once you get the right adjustment you should be sorted.

Bless,
