LOL...true,true.I just think alot of tracks i've heard have been o.k. but just didn't move me.THat's where the heart comes in.

just curious what is concidered a rookie producer,

someone that has been producing and sells his beats
or someone thats been makin beats for a few months


i conncider my self a rookie and i have been doin this for six years, but untill i start to sell beats on a regular then i will be a vet or what ever level comes next.

good question. i def consider myself a rookie. and i dont really consider myself a producer, just a beat maker. thats what i was saying before, when i saw the title of this thread i didnt think you'd be discussing noobs. i think you right tho e.d.e., i wouldnt really consider myself anything more than rookie unless i was pulling regular cash from it. but then i'm sure there are plenty cats with mad talent that arent even trying to make money from beats....

i've been djing for 26+years and i have made some money , enough to buy more records and pay for equipment , i do it mostly for the love of music and to make people dance and be happy,
now some of my beats have been asked to be on comps but to me i'm not at that stage in my career to release any of my music like that, people tell me that i should ,
i just don't have the confidence yet. now if i was to have people come and ask me 'hey you want to sell that beat" then yes, i would concider myself being a beatmaker or producer or what ever one calls it .

i just think theres too many new cats that don't pay dues and they don't desevre the credit they are gettin
but thats just me...

uh I hate that stuff more then when I accidently step in dog shiiittt.

At least filter it or something, its like a fruity trademark or something, once I hear that sound I know, and I turn of the song about a sec later, no matter where the song may go... doesn't matter, if your using the fruity loops, don't just use the presets, please... at least hide it

One thing I notice about alot of hip hop producers I hear is that the melodies are very boring. Its eay to tell alot of folks don't come from a musical background. They don't know any theory or about chord construction and it shows big time. There compositions just don't go any where, they get dull real quick. Plus alot of beatmakers don't lisen to a wide variety of music which is essential to stay unique and not be some boom bap rehash hip hop hater head.
