Is it true??????

I heard from a couple of guys this week that the MPC1000 is battery-operable. Can anyone confirm that? If so, I'm definitely sold. I own a MPC2000XL. I like the portability of the MPC1000. So, I'll buy one just to travel with.

I've checked out Akai's site since I posted this question and there is no mention of it being battery-operable. Maybe they'll think to add that option. That would be a very wise decision on their part if they did.

Didn't someone say you can attach a battery pack to it? not stock from Akai, just a portable battery to run it.

I've had this discussion with someone. It is fairly simple to connect a DC/AC invertor to plug the AC cord into so you could run the MPC1000 for about 4-6 hours. The packs vary in size and capacity. The one we were looking at is about the size of an old school lunchbox.

I believe this has been mentioned in the archives.

How about an inverter to run the MPC while in your car? The commute to work will never be the same now that you can play the pads while driving. Throw away that cell phone and bang out a few beats.

People do everything in their cars in Detroit, sleep, cook some food, hangout, party, whatever...There is no people walking around so you don't have to worry bout rollin up on the curb once and awhile...

Man I can't count the times I've almost crashed whilst dipping through that twitchy little iPod...MPC+Car, that is some bad shiz...HA!

I already do that with the MPC2000XL. It is very portable compared to the MPC3000.

I bullsh!t you not, I saw a lady one day putting on a sweater and lipstick afterwards while I was driving on the freeway at around 80MPH. She kept weaving from lane to lane and I slowed down and changed lanes far from her so she wouldn't hit me and she ran right up under a 18 wheeler and got that "extra crunch" everyone is looking for in the gritty sounds of 12bit. Only, the gritty sound she heard was tons of metal "grinding" like neptunes.

Repspect to the inverter. You can get them for under $30. Great on long trips.
