prog change messing up sequences

has anyone had this problem?

i'm in the main screen playing a sequence and i accidentally dial the wheel whilst in the pgm: field and it ends up changing some of the sounds in all sequences to other sounds, then when i dial it back to off it's still all messed up, i've had to reload the whole thing from disk to sort it out and lost the work i done

i did a little seach on this but couldn't find the same problem

Choose drum1 for example, then set the program for drum1 to use, then back to main screen. Get it

There is a reason to use the "program ID" for your programs like Bravo suggested.

You should always assign program change Id's for each of the programs and ensure that all of them are unique (like the names). Then for each of the sequences, explicitly Set the Prg so that there is no doubt which program is needed for that DRUMx.

Note that for each Seq, you only needs to set Prg once for each DRUMx. In other words, if you use DRUM1 in Track1, Track2, and Track3 then you would only need to set it for Track1 since the other Tracks will follow.

Think of the DRUMx as a memory location and the Seq explicity states which program is loaded into that DRUMx. Then each of the tracks gets a DRUMx. The displayed Program Name for each track is really only there for informative purposes since DRUMx is really what is used.

If you do not use this then you are using "Load Magic" to set your sequence programs. You will also have to re-assign DRUMx's all the time when you load/create programs instead of automating it with the Seq's.

man thanks for that, i havn't been ID'ing my programs like that at all and have just been going along without thinking about it, this should make life easier

I was giving him the method of switch things back - Even tho he mentioned 'program change' he didnt actually say it the way of midi program changes. It was more of a case of him not having ID's and accidently slipping the jog wheel. So I pointed him to the screen for that. Your cool with that info too, just coming at things from slightly differnt angles

the way i've working is simply loading the .aps file, i have switched between programs in DRUMx but havn't assigned any prog change ID's

and my sequences are only using the 4 programs in each DRUMx
