My first was an EMAX II then I got this K2000. I hated that thing. Next was my Triton and now that live with my 2000XL and computer.

E-mu e4X (wish i still had my Casio FZ-20m as well
)
sold my 2000xl a while back but am looking to pick up a 1000 soon. i really miss the sequencer, i don't know if i'll use the sampler on it much. was never completely happy with the sound of the newer MPCs and hated the fact that there was not much control over the samples themselves. if money was no issue i'd be in line for a 2500 though.

i agree, i've been making some phat kicks on the xl
i think people comment on the sampler cos it's not as good for non-percussion samples, but for drums it's cool

..I have to agree with the comments about the MPC being basic (only got a 1k so clearly dont know the whole range). You only have to use something like Kontakt to realise no hardware can compare to this in terms of pure sampling. Even comparing the 1k to other samples (has a E5000Ultra for many years before going soft on sampling) the 1k is incredibly basic and feature-less.
But as you point out, for drums the engine is fine and hence we all still love them.. Also, on the MPCs you get a complete package that is designed to keep a vibe going - worth far more than the sum of its parts (indeed, all the parts are quite weak).
see you,

use the 1k in combo with a pc
especially Reaktor lately.....this is NUTS as a SAmpler please believe I speak truth
MPC is obviously limited as a sampler.....
the only things I really wish the 1k had was individual attack/decay for the levels of a pad, and also linking pads together like the 2k (as a sampler anyway) and maybe some x fade options but those who know its not a asr

mpc 4000,k2500rs,fantom s& the yamaha a4000.also software which I RARELY use because they don't sample, they just read .wav files. someone correct me if I'm wrong.the 4000 is 99% of the z8 sampler so it's kool for sampling anything.
