MPC60 SD floppy load times

Hello all ....

Wondering if fellow MP60 + MPCedit users prefer the speed of sampling directly into the MPC60 vrs. waiting for the MPC60 to load from an MPCeditor SD floppy ?? I wonder if its simply faster to sample and assign to programs manually on the 60.....

It would not be faster if you already have a stockpile of WAV files on your PC. Not sure why you want to play an already trimmed WAV file into the MPC, re-trim it on the MPC, and then you still have to save to floppy.

The editor is much faster, you only have to load the 3000 files once. After loading simply replace the MPC editor PGM with the converter 60 PGM and the load time is the same as if you sampled with the 60.

WHat ?? I remember that the 60 loads mpcedit.snd files and converts them from "3000 format" this was the part I thought was slowing me down.... not sure what you mean by "simply replace the MPC editor PGM with the converter 60 PGM " I thought that it was converting each .snd not .pgm . Would it be faster to just save / load .snd ??

I have a huge library of custom recorded drum single hits. I was a drummer and collected single hits of my kits in different studio's over the years. I've got allot of them in my AKAI s2000 velocity layered. Using Millenium for this ...works amazing, saves lots of time. I'm getting back into more song writting and wanted to ditch my S2000 / Logic MIDI setup for the simplicity of the mpc60 and ProTools.

I find that once I've decided on a kit to use I'll tweak the sounds a bit then go to load into the 60. The mapping is always the same I just want to get the samples in there. I was using MIDI SDS on an old S01 and later SMDI on an S2000. Its just kinda hard to keep the flow and feel of what I'm working on together as I wait for floppys to do their floppy dance ..........
maybee its something I should accept for now.

load your files into the editor, save it to disk in 3000 format.

load the program into the 60. once it's done, replace the program on the disk ( created in the editor) with the one in the mpc, which is already converted. the next time you load the pgm it will be just like a mpc 60 sampled pgm.
