usb doesnt work, possible newbie q possible broken mpc

better...has crashed once tho.....might be ram...is under warranty but its brand new...shouldnt fuk up really....anyway just learning to use the damn thing...i hav worked out how to make songs, tracks and sequences, but saving songs is a bit fiddley. unfortunately i hav to go to work, so tmrw nite ill hav a big session. timestretch and zoning would be well useful considering i already hav a huge library of samples on my pc...im sure ill work it all out in time. anyway i'll comment if it fuks up again...dont think the mpc itself is broken, hope thats not the case anyway.

its still crashing - try this. take the ram out. reinstall the os and play with it for a while (at least a day). if it still crashes without that ram in take the mpc back to the shop. but give it a day without that ram inside it and find out if it still crashes. if doesnt crash with the ram inside, take the ram back to where you brought it and ask them for another.

as far as saving songs best way to do that is to (in the save page) select 'save entire memory' and save everything for that beat to one folder (create a folder for each beat). that way when you come back to it its all in one place. the other options are usefull, but use 'save entire memory' if you got something you want to keep for know.

dont worry about timestrech and zoning too much, there just extra features. there not that essential to the 1k, you'll be fine without for now.

cheers m8. crashing far less, if not at all (has done it once since i last posted. really like this thing, making beats is so quick. really is that much easier and quicker than a pc. timestretcbing and zoning would be well useful as i hav lots 2-4 bar loops that r not pre timestretched...it would take me ages to get all those loops timestretched on other programs...would be far easier if timestretching was onboard (just the way im used to doing things, any ableton users would understand). i know u can get around this with no many probs, but im a lazy bastard and like to hav all samples ready to play as quick as possible, thats why i got the mpc in the first, everything's quick to assign and ready to start beat making in an instance.

one question about the saving entire memory and making project files. my only prob is that it saves everything (including the gay presets) to one folder...it doesnt seem right to that for each song...unless their is a way around that, i.e. by getting rid of the internal flash memory. im sure i can find the right info on that by searching the forum (unless anyone wants to help me out straight up ). also if u can delete the internal flash memory, can usave kits to the internal flash memory as well, wouldnt mind my essential, useful kits being available as soon as i turn the mpc on. anyway cheers for help so far, the big probs (the crashing) seemed so far to be resolved.

ah worked out the saving business.. just one quick question, every time i update my project, should i always 'save entire memory' and label the project the same name?

unless you have want it seperate.

just make sure you select OVERWRITE SAME FILES or there is no point in saving.
