Please, elaborate a little bit. Do you have a MIDI connection? if so, how is it connected? Inputs, outputs?

The fantom must be set up to SEND midi clock to the mpc. On the mpc, go to mode: midi/sync and sync in to 1. sync out to off.
fantom midi out to mpc midi in 1
When you start the fantom sequence the mpc tempo on the main page should read EXT. hope this helps

I have the mp set up that way, the xa however has a lot of midi settings on it but i don't see anything about clock send...it has MMC mode (set to master) MMC output (set to on) MTC sync output (this is the clock right? set to on). the guys at the fantom forum never reply!!! tahnks for the help thus far

the 1k only recognizes MTC. I don't own a fantom but this is like general for most synths.

ok i have both sequences starting together, however when the sequence loops the first couple of events of the sequnce from the mpc are dropped...is this because you are not supposed to loop midi? and if so what do people do?

They're supposed to loop. I just tested it with my Monomachine as master, MPC1k as slave. The Mono seq was 2 bars, the mpc 1 bar.

i keep checking several of the options and changing params of the sequences (number of bars looped, solo grps etc.) but the first events of the sequence are always dropped....i'm getting a headache trying to put this together...do you know anyone who can be paid to make a house-call in the city? btw good lookin on the help-out

Try 1 empty bar at the beginning of both seq. I've heard that sometimes midi doesn't always trigger immediately.

you should set it up as the xa being slave

any particular reason?

if you just set it up by midi. The mpc sequencer will sequence what you play on the xa. you paid money for the mpc sequencer. use it.
