anyone ever use any disk utility type of things on their CF card?

i think mine's starting to get a bit funny.. id rather not reformat, unless that's really the best way. it defintiely wouldnt be the easiest since it's a 1GB card with a lot of samples on it

im using mac osx 10.3.5
would mac disk utility do more harm than good?

thank you

depends!!

what u wanna do defrag?!? just keep it all organised and neat, and use in conjunction with your 32meg card. helps reduce unecessary read\writes on your 1G card.

hi penfold

i dont think it needs a defrag. i got a few mysteriously corrupt files, mostly pgm's i made with pad187. im pretty sure it's that messing it up but id like to get the card as healthy as possible too

mysterious files?

hahah damn MACS!! they always put system files on disks for what ever reason!! is dat what your on about?

the files werent mysterious, the corruption was

actually i think i know what caused the corrupt files. when i unmount the card from my mac's desktop (i use a card reader), the icon disppears and you'd think it's ok to yank out the card right? NOOOOOOOOO

seems the computer is finishing something or other and if you eject too soon the files you just were working with will be corrupt

my wife says the same thing happens occasionally with her camera on a different computer (an ibook)

maybe it's a mac thing

HAHAH!! I know, I noticed the MACOS file folder it came with in the zip!!
to be honest not all macs are that bad! but everything the guy mentioned I have been through. I remembered when I paid 3 grand for a brand new Mac, the one all in glass, with a glass box cpu glass monitor and glass speakers...

didnt take 2days before I took it back to Pcworld and got a refund. just did my head in!! couldnt get anything done!! this was years ago though i might look into seeing if one can make life easier for my setup...doubt it..

PC's rarely let me down, but I suppose cause I build my own now so it works how I want it too.
