Which scsi cd rom drive?

Does anyone know what sort of cd rom drive I need to use with my mpc2000xl. I have been using a scsi zip drive but want to use cds now. can I use any or do I have special requirements. Thanks

I hope you're just using it to load because you can't burn cd's through scsi.So using a cd rom as a storage device is not going to work.

I want to use it in the same way I use my zip drive to save all my pgms/files/sequences etc and then reload them. Also to load commercial cd roms for new sounds etc. I was under the impression that I could use cd rom for saving on cdrw or cdr . If I cant do this what can I do as zip drives are on there way out and not really very dependable? I was hoping to use cd.

Does any one know if I can use a seagate 50gb external hd with mpc2000xl. I know they are compatible with akai but not sure if mpc2000xl.

You can load sounds from cd rom via scsi but you can't burn your tracks like that.You'll need to connect to a cd burner/computer via the outs.

All I want to know is can I use cd rom to save and load my work in the same way I use zip? Not sure what you mean by burn tracks, I just want to save and load(does this involve burning?), surely there must be someone on this site that can answer this simple question plain and simple. Studio hermit has given a link to buy one but I need to know if it does what I want first. Also does anyone have experience using a seagate 50gig hard drive with mpc2000xl. C.d into cd rom- load.

Can not burn cd hooked up by scsi.

Now now there is no need for sarcasm. Im not slow I am just confused by the lingo and frustrated at how long it takes me to find out anything. What you are saying is that saving my work is burning correct? I havent heard this term used as such before. Ive always thought of burning as burning an audio cd but you learn something new every day. So how about the scsi hard drive? Would that be a better option? Thanks

The hard drive would be a very nice option. Though, I don't know if the 50GB drive would work. I seem to remember that the largest external HDDs you can use are 9GB.

Well there is a guy on ebay selling them and claiming that they work with mpc2000xl, I have contacted him to find out more, will get back and let you know if you like.

A scsi hard drive will do the trick if you want to save/load samples.But what i was trying to get at earlier is that you can't save/burn through scsi to cd rom.Make sense?
