If my 2000xl has an internal zip, will i be able to hook up an external floppy drive ?
Help would be most appreciated, as i am just about to buy one and i'd like to know!

I tried to search but couldn't find anything..

I believe that you can do that, I don't see a problem why you couldn't. BUT floppy is disabled once the zip is installed, so that is a good question regarding "external", I would think it would see it as an external hard drive......

Thanks for the help, still not sure if i'm gonna buy it tho.
External zip would probably be better for me since i don't have a computer and i'm going to be trading floppys with my friends..

I have a CDROM and ZIP, CDROM to me is VERY fast compared to zips. Actually, maybe bout the same, but I would swap all the disks of your friends and have them burn you a CD and then you can load from CD. I have Int. Zip and Ext. CD, couldn't be more satisfied with my decision.

My fiends are poor.
No computers (except for REEEALLY old ones) and no CD-Rs.
Only moldy Minidisk -players..

well I would borrow their cds or compile them in a folder when you trade and then burn programs on CD.

"will i be able to hook up an external floppy drive ?"

Tascam makes an external SCSI drive. Expensive and untested with the MPC's.

i recognize that www.forat.com
looks like they stripped the paint and buffed the metal to a shine.or chrome plated?looks dope.i want to do that myself but have all the letters silk screened on to make it look pro,,rather than the rub on letters or stickers.plus i think i would forget what some of the buttons are

Yeah it's from the forat page, found out about it
here http://www.mpc-forums.com/viewforum.php?f=9

Once i get my MPC (still waiting, the lazy a$$ distributors have not confirmed my order yet, so i'm also looking for used MPCs) i might just get
a new cover and have my friend paint it, that is if he has got the time.
He's a really good painter and i'd like to have a machine that stands out from the crowd...

<----- That crome finish is SICK, but i'd have to have a manual next to it 'cause i couldn't remember the buttons either.

Anyway thanks for the help guys, now i know i have to get an external zip and an external cd-drive, because i will also be needing the floppys.

And again bboutit : we don't have computers nor cdr-drives, only MPCs, floppys, zips and akai sample cds (this is my computer at work, and in case you're wondering i won't be able to use this for anything more than browsing the web) so still no burning programs !! :)

btw I just found a good one:
MPC2000xl SE3 32megs, external cd-drive, external zip 100, 1 zip, akai sample cd, the original box that it came in, with only two previous owners and receits from all the transactions, and it's in very good condition
1050€, which is roughly the same in dollars.
I think i have to snag it. i just hope nobody offers him any more money..

I think the se3 is the purple one if I remember correctly. Glow in the dark yellow and white pads I think.

SE3 is the black/"crome" finish with black pads.
I'd prefer the original beige but the black pads look nice.
SE1 looks like crap IMO but the orange is cool.
