i own the "mpc2000xl-mcd" with that new build in card reader and the memory crad is one of this type: http://www.cpluse.com/cn/UserImages/Art ... RIVE_1.jpg
i tried formating it, but it still doesn't work. the card works well with my pc and printer but not on the akai. maybe i've got to figure out, how to do partions on this?!

Only Compact Flash (CF) cards work with my cardreader. I have the same cardreader as installed in the MCD version of the 2000xl.

Besides that, the mpc can read cards and drives up to 1gb.

Poster still didn't answer the really important Q from dj dcypher:
"What OS?"

With this, a correct response is possible.
Without it, all responses are only guesses.

You've tried using other (SD, Smart Media, Memory Stick, or MMC) cards and they don't work?

I don't really know what my OS is, but i couldn't find any new update of it on the akai page. you think, a new OS would make the micro work??

"I don't really know what my OS is, "

In that case you should find out because we cannot help you until you do. There is a HUGE difference between the way the MPC formats media dependent on the OS version.

i contacted the akai support hotline today and that guy said that only cards up to 2gb work with the system. i forgot to ask if this is just because of the card reader or the mpc system itself.
nevertheless, thanx for the replies!

You can find out hot check your OS version by looking in the manual.

Is it partitioned?

Do you use the FULL 5gb space?

What version OS do you have?
