what operating system do i have?

Hi guys, just a couple of really lame questions.

Is there a way i can find out what operating system version i have on my 1000?

If i don't have the latest, should i get it?

heard there is a new os for the 1000. sounded reallll nice. i would upgrade if you havent already..

that is if the new OS has been released....
