Option to remove unused samples?

Sometimes its good to just fling together a load of samples and see where you end up, nothing wrong with a bit of uncertainty.

true, sometimes that works well.

but in those instances you've got to be prepared to go back and take out whats not needed. not thats its not worth it, sometimes you can come with some crazy sh!t like that. perhaps using samples together that you wouldn't ever normally think to and so discovering things that you never have would otherwise.

its a hit or miss thing, but when your gonna work like that you've just gottta be prepared to go back and take out the samples that didnt work. which is no big thing.

so you want your mpc to automatically take out any samples that are not used in any sequencing.

Most software sequencers have a function to "remove unused soundbites" from a particular song. Granted these aren't being loading into RAM. Would be a usefull feature for those of us who autoload samples into RAM.

yep, i keep autoload turned off.

also, i take back what i said about it causing other problems, cos it would be very easy to code around the problem i gave.

..but i just dont think its worth it. even if you have autoload on, its still very easy and quick to purge the samples from memory. all you have to do is know which samples you want to keep.

When you use the MPC1000 to record or load several samples, you may have unused samples (samples not assigned to any pads in the program) in the MPC1000’s memory. In this case, it is time consuming to browse the contents of the program for unused samples and delete them one by one. With the PURGE function, you can delete all the unused samples at the same time.
