Autochromatic / PGMs / Banks

I have been using the autochromatic function with my midi keyboard, layering sounds. But I am trying to figure out how I can get more than 4 layers.

e.g Drums on Drum 1 program A
Stabs on Drum 2 program A
Bass on Drum 3 program A
Piano on Drum 4 program A

but now if I wanted to lay some violins over the top for example...how could I do it?...if I change Drum 1 to program B...I lose my drum sounds...

is there any easy way to do this?

put your violins in a program. access them via program change in step edit.

step edit your seq and at the very begining place a program change with
the violin program number in there. so when that seq plays back that
violin program will be played instead of whatever drum it says on the main
menu.

Honestly if that's how you want to work it's time to add a full featured sampler to your setup, move to the 4000 or start multi tracking your stuff.

You could build your programs yourself so that the bass notes and the violins, or the bass notes and the stabs are on the same program.
One takes the high one takes the low.

its not that I am always going to work with just layering..normally I like to find a break and chop it...but I recently got myself a keyboard and I am loving the autochromatic thing....

I'm just trying to find out how far you can go with that function....

From my understanding the MPC can have a max of 4 progams in use. Cause i thought when I used da XL for autochromatic i could use more than 4 sounds but I coulnd't.

Is there any simple way of using the autochromatic function on two different samples in one program without having to load each sound individually?

e.g Program A - Sample 1 Banks A+B
........................Sample 2 Banks C+D

That way I could have one sound on the lower octaves and another sound on the upper octaves.

I know I can do it by loading each sound into a different pad, but I am wondering if there is any easier method?
