Problem recording to PC from hardware

My set-up is as follows: MPC 2000XL, Roland PC-300 MIDI Keyboard, EURORACK UB2442FX Mixer, E-MU 1212m Sound Card, Reason 3.0

I use the MPC for sequencing and sampling, and use Reason 3 as a sound module.

The E-MU 1212m has it's outs to the mixer for the Reason sounds, and this set-up works well for me.

But the problem occurs when I try to record from my mixer back into my E-MU sound card (IE connecting the outs from my mixer to the INS of the E-MU) - basically, the sound gets ****ED up. Quality is greatly reduced and if it is past a certain volume a high pitched squeaking occurs.

Now this happens ONLY to the sounds used from Reason (drum patterns and samples on my MPC get recorded nicely) - and I'm guessing the reason it's doing it is because I already have the Reason sounds playing on the PC - so the sound card doesn't like recordng what it's playing when routing through the mixer.

Is there a way around this at all? This is killing me! I can stil makes beats and all that but I can't get them onto the PC - to get in MP3 format, or burn them to CD.

I'm sure there must be a way to resolve this without buying a seperate soundcard primarily for recording it.

Yeah man this is simple to solve..

make sure your sample rate and latency settings are correct!
the high pitch stuff is probably cause your reason sample rate is not set with the patch mix ratem though this should be done automatically
otherwise, u might need to update your drivers...anyway just to make sure

First of all you need to create your custom session..in Patch MIx
Make all your neccessary Inputs (Strips) Dock 1,2,3...

Make a ASIO Channel and Call it Reason 3, and do the same for other soft modules you use, i think u can make up to 32 ASIO channels so this should be enough

so link up your mpc, reason and mixer....now when recording the whole mixed session back into pc, you have to send it to a WAVE HOST , so what u do is right click on the sends under main inserts out and create a INSERT SEND (Output to ASIO\WAVE or phsical Output)
Choose WAVE HOST.

Then using a program like Sound forge for example, select recording device as E DSP WAV.. now u can record internally.

if u want to record back to your mixer send it out a physical out put or do it in the OUTPUTS on your patch mix. then into your TAPE IN on ya mixer.
