A gap when recording a track

I called myself searching the index but i didn't find what i was looking for so here it goes: I have a NICE drum sample that i want to use. I record it but it doesn't quite loop well. At the end i have a 1 second "gap". Can someone explain to me how to fix it and or avoid it altogheter?
