Craigslist is also a good place to find stuf in your area cause then u could go and check it out for yourself.

Nothing wrong with second hand stuff, it depends on your budget also.
New has the warranty with it though which sways MANY decisions.

i've always bought new stuff cause I didn't want to take chances. but I've know people to get thrid and fourth hand stuff and it works perfectly.

my mpc had a previous owner and my 1,2 basicly the 4 bottom left pads are not sensitive at all, i have to hit them hard to get a response. But its the sacrafice i pay for a mpc 1000 for 400 bills. The less you pay the more you have to work. there is no downside wether you paid 1600 or 400 it all matters how you utilize it and your commitment. ;) can ya dig it? there are dealers in california who can build you an MPC from spare parts for about 600 and your guranteed (i dunno how to spell it) a fully functioning mpc 1000 for 600 dollors. Now this is in LA pasadena to be exact. but any investment new or old pc doesnt matter becuase its a legendary machine man.

NO MATTER WHAT!!!!!!!!!! BELIEVE ME ONCE YOU GET THE MPC NO MATTER WHICH ONE IT IS, IT WAS WORTH EVERY FRACTION OF THE CENT!!!!!!!!

Damn! You can't beat a deal like that!

As for buying gear brand new, I'd have to agree with Lamp. Unless it's vintage or no longer in stock, I'd rather spend more to know that I have a full warranty with no hidden surprises.

Yeah, GC WILL pricematch it. You need an ad to print and bring with you. I did this last year when I saw the 1k on novamusik for $859. GC sold it to me for exactly $859 total. No problem!

I'm not sure. I doubt it. However, the next cheapest 1k would still be at novamusik. http://www.novamusik.com/search.aspx?type=Manufacturer&keyword=70
Just print that page and bring it to GC.

Do you have a Sam Ash that's closer to you? If so, give them a call and see if they will pricematch online ads.
