hey, i'm going to be buying an mpc2000 or 2000xl over spring break for use for live drums...do you think prices for these two are going to continue to drop due to the new mpc2500 and mpc1000 os v2?

i am seeing 2000xl's on ebay for like 500 bucks. i'm really close to just snapping em up but what do you think, they'll continue to plummet? i would looove to pick one of these up for the better quality pads so i can really get crazy good at live drumming rather than use the mpc1000's more unreliable pads.

not that i don't love the 1k but i'd use it more as a workstation and the 2000xl as more of a live instrument

peace!

ANY MPC is money well spent, and tje more you pay (the retail price of the mpc) for the MPC the more quaility the pad will be. But a 2000 sounds great for live stuff and 500 bucks? you must get it.

I am a newb to this forum but have been Producing for years. I think it will be hard pressed to get a 2000 or 2000xl for less than $500. I just ordered the 2500 and have never owned one before. I did own an mv-8000 and i did not enjoy it one bit.

yeah, i think you can order replacement pads for the mpc2000 series for pretty cheap. so as long as everything else works i don't care about doing a bit of manual labor.

but i just saw a video of a guy using a 2000 or 2000xl for live drums and he was absolutely amazing. i would never be able to do that shit on the 1000, the pads just dont allow it. i will be playing live drums for an indie rock/electronica band as well as for my half of a dj team i'm involved in, and i'd love to use a classic mpc...

is it just because the 1k doesn't have that double trigger thing? seems like you could work around that, maybe delay? shame on you ant for doubting the blue b*tch.

edit: think about how impressed peeps would be if you could work your 1k like that :idea:

not so much the fact that it doesn't have double triggering and more because the pads themselves don't seem to be as accurately responsive to different velocities as the older models do.

i'd still use the mpc1000 live, but you'd best believe that FULL VELOCITY would be lit up like a christmas tree.

if you're looking for something you can bang the shit out of, get one of these;

that thing is built like a tank. I shit you not it weighs 10 kg, you could prolly find one for under 50 US. you can REALLY smack the crap out of those pads, but it doesnt sense as many dynamic levels as mpc's. but still i'd buy one just for drum inputs. Also they aren't rubber pads, they actually depress, so you get a satisfying tap sound whenever you hit a button.

Word of advice, I got a second hand mpc and the pads were really worn out, it was all in great condition just worn out, like you couldnt do any fast drums or anything so i would look hard before you change your mind. I ve just switched to a 1k cus im hoping the pads will be better. My 2c

What are you on about "Double Trigger" ? Thing??

Cause this sounds like playing two samples at once, or note repeat? something the "blue ****" does have.
