Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000
By funcrush Sat Nov 05, 2005 7:31 pm
Been bashing out beats over the last couple of years on the MPC2000XL, all hunky-dory untill I decided to start using a Roland Keyboard to sequence some sounds.

The only way I can assign a sound (by it's self) to the keyboard where it can be played, is by selecting 'auto' and creating a new program for the sound, therefore changing all the sounds in my sequences to the keyboard assigned sound in different notes!

Does anybody have an idea on how to get round this? All I want is to play a single sample over sequences using the keyboard, without changing the sounds on the existing sequences.

Any help would be appreciated, Pz..................

What type of keyboard?

Alot of times you can just autochromatic(sp?)assign and use the keyboard as slave but you have to make sure to change the midi channel on the mpc to correspond with each bank/sound.
(piano-a1,stings b1 etc)
If you use a comp to record you select midi track and then run the other midi out of the mpc to the comp in.

When you Auto you are creating a new program....all you have to do is switch your Drum1 back to Newpgm-A.

Is there a way of using two programs simultaniously?
or assigning the keyboard in a way that doesn't create a new program?

I changed it back to newpgm-a, but couldn't play the sound previously assigned to the keyboard over newpgm-a.

Can you use a midi controller to controll the sound within the program, the same way the '16 levels' function works? :?

My keyboard is a Roland JV35 exp synth.

you can run 4 progams at the same time...

Go to the program screen, hit drum2 and assign the keyboard program to that

Now it's starting to make sense! Gonna try that now, thanks.
