this got dang swing is gettin on my nerves

ive search for this and i still cant find nuthin

how the hell do you take swing off? when i wanna quantize my snare it is just slightly shifted after the click...and that is really annoying me.

i keep on finding threads of how to put ON swing, but i cant find any that tells you how to REMOVE it.

my time correct screen is like this

note value: 1/8
swing%: 50 (wont go any lower)
shift timing: earlier
amount : 0
yaddah yaddah yaddah

i have no idea why it would be shifting with these values, as they are always like this (i think, at least. never ever use swing on my beats)

any help would be greatly appreciated

Is there any silence at the start of ur sample? That could be why ur snr aint hitting right. Check ur start points

Why not try put ur snr down at 1/16's...Better still, turn the quantize off...Or if u cant get the timing, use step edit

Swing is something u add. Its default (50%) is like it being off to start with

Also note that the mpc's timing is slightly off. I think this is where people get the idea mpcs' sound different to other drum machines, and slight more 'human'/live. Also also note that the timing is only fractions of a millisecond off, so barely noticible.

and bravo...i got so frustratred with it that i turned the timing off like i always do
i;ve never used timing at all on my beats unless i want to do note repeat or something.

its just bothering me because im getting into multitracking my beats now, instead of recording one stereo file...and its annoying to organize them without the snare on the quarter note or wherever

im just gonna have to do it the "human" way, like i've been doin

if you havent actually added any swing and your snare is off its either

a) the sample (every sample, imo, should be trimmed to its proper start point- unless you utilise velocity to start point- story for another day) or

b) you have hit it in late

c) your groove is making it off

d) you have put time shifting on it

yo try shifting it a tick earlier or later. When i had my 3000 i was always wondering why my kick wasnt on the first beat. This was why. Try it.

MAke sure you have a blank bar or two at the beginning of your sequence....

The MPC's timing isn't off, it's the click that's throwing you. you need to get to know it a little or just lay some hihats. Playing to a click takes some getting used to.

so does usng TC, not always as self evident as people think unless you are relying on it as a crutch.

i think he means that say he set his snare quant to whatever, then played it and then wanted to turn that snr quant off.... but it stays that way... i dont know how to make it back to original, w/o quant.... its happened to me and i just have to erase the track its on...start over... if anybody gets what im tryna say, get at me ane let me know if i missin sumpn....

p.s. yo ISSUES, is that what you meant when u say u wanna undo the quant??

ah if its the last thing he did press undoi seq- that will revert it back to before you made your last edit- and yeah it works with quant and swing
