Pads driving me crazy

I guess I'm the weirdo then

Well I just did this above here and it definantly helped with the sensitvity of the pads. Now if I wanna do soft kicks or whatever it does respond. However I am still gettin double "taps" on A4. I noticed on my sensor that it seemed there was this film on it, like hairspray, I didn't use anything to clean it I just gently wiped it with a soft cloth. Is this normal?

BTW El, my 60 has the yellowish clear sensor pad to it

hairspray? only on that sensor? use a little bit of rubbing alcohol (at your own risk, but I've done iot for years) if you feel up to is on the cloth and see if it helps.

It also helps if you lift your finger from the pad after the hit instead of just tapping and leaving it pressed. That is the proper way to play the drums anyway.

it can also be a sign of the rubber pads wearing out. Did you wash them as well?

I think it might be the steelo of i tap them. I am gonna modify how I do it. Tonight I worked out some tight drums..I was satisfied to say the least.

There is a bit of technique involved in getting the clean hit. if you are new to it or have recently moved the MPC it could be adjusting to a new using angle as well.

el, do the other three ribbon connectors need to be removed? the two at the top-middle and the one on the bottom-right?

could somebody please give instructions on opening up the mkII?

go to the roger linn website and download the 3.10 and scsi installation PDF. it's in the FAQ as well.

this shyt is pretty obvious once you get in there, you have to remove one end of the white ribbon cable to get the pads out, and the gray ribbon cable from the small circuitboard on the bottom of the pads.

yo, thanks a grip, florre & elmac! i hooked up a lil' cleaning on my own baby tonight and man were my pads DISGUSTING! i used a simple H2O/rubbing alcohol wash and ran the pads under warm water afterwards. then i whiped the sensor with a dampened cloth. i did notice a sort of 'hairspray' substance on the sensor plate but everything is working just fine after dyring each piece & closin' her up.

here are some pics of the same process with a MKII. nothing is different 'cept the headphone jack gets in the way of removing the sensor/pad pieces a bit. getting the pads and the sensor plate back in place at the same time was kinda tough, but i managed.

Is that small board on the top left the headphone output?

yeah. it kinda comes over the top of the top-left screw. i hooked up some speakers to the headphone jack and they sounded real loud.

yes! trust me, this was my FIRST time ever opening the thing up and it took me 10 mins.

tools: philips head screwdriver, light, bong

man, i almost ripped the wires out when i pulled that thing out! be careful! be patient! i used a flat head to pry at it from the top for a bit and then slowly worked it out of place. that damn thing was quite stubborn!

but alls you gotta do is pull that and the ribbon cable on the right and the whole housing comes out with ease.
