how to get that hard hitting reggae(not dancehall) bass?

boy i hear that but...if it sounds good it sounds good man!! what ever u use...dont get me wrong I got a fostex 8 track that I might use again one day, its just a chore to setup nowadays..

i can get just as good bass with the lowend thoery.

fostex is the shit..i had that the lil red one right the MR-8? that had a good sound in that lil box, but with most reggae back in the day the golden age (which i love the most 75'-83'). ROOTS! was using the reel to reel like lee perry.He used a alice radio mixing bored its, a "toy" as he called it and used it to produce DOZENS OF ALBUMS before he burnt down the ark...sad sad day

New LeeP.'s studio in Switzland is G5 & Pro-Tools (!) as must of dem studio...

I've been using a tascam 8 track lately and mixing through the console to the computer with some live effects to try to learn some of the dub style methods. I much prefer it to multitracking on the computer and the sound gets there much easier and the mixing is more enjoyable.

mine is a 4-track reel to reel from teac, its the same one that gave lee perry that sound when he was at black ark, i do not use it because of lee perry it was handed down to me.......

although everyone seems happy with the ryhthm rule....cant hear many tunes these days whithout some kind of rhythmic underbed- so essentially there are some rules- we dont all like music concrete after all
