Sometimes I Use A VERY BASIC DRUM KIT then Switch the Sounds out AFTER Getting MY Pattern DOWN............................


Also I OFTEN DO THIS AT TIMES FOR PADS ETC.....................


and YES I Also Have ALOT OF Drums FOR STACKIN'

Many that I Would NEVER USE AS MY MAIN Sound.......................



Also Learn the Character of A Sound............................


WHY DOES IT SOUND LIKE THAT..................................



IS IT RUFF...............
TRY Distortion, Fuzz, Overdrive or Downsampling ETC.



IS IT Full of AIR or SPACE..................................
TRY Short Delay, Echo or Reverb ETC.



IS IT CHOPPY.....................
TRY A NOISE GATE OR A COMPRESSOR WITH LOW (SUSTAIN) DECAY ETC
or MUTE of VOLUME AUTOMATION........................



DOES IT TRAVEL Through the Speakers..............
Try A Doppler or A Panner OR A LESLIE...................



U Can Find MOST OF THESE AS FREEWARES or CHEAP SHAREWARE ETC.


U can TOTALLY TRANSFORM ANY SOUND..........................





IT's More Important to GET How Sounds REACT Than IT is TO HAVE ALOT OF THEM.............................

Yep - having too many sounds at your disposal is one of the best ways to kill creativity. How many times have we fired up the studio and then spent 4 hours auditioning presets and samples before going to bed frustrated and drained of any creative spark?!!

There is an interview with John OO Fleming in Future Music 168 (huge UK remixer/producer/etc) anyway, he states that despite having a huge library of sounds he always comes back to 1 of 3 kicks.
