pitch shifting DRUM pgm's possible?

and now i have another noob question...and i start it sayn :
"yes, i do read the manual but found anything related so please dont tell me the same old "go read manual" story"

my problem is:

can i assign the pitch bend of a keyboard to pitch bend a drum program of the mpc?
maybe some of ya will find this useless but in the style i use this is pretty important.

i have an s950 too and there is no prob pitchbendin any program on it.
can i do the same on the 2kxl?
and if yes, how?

pichbend is not possible on the 2k and 2kxl.. only pitch, and i cant remember if it's possible to pitch programs different

why don't you just use the s950 as a sound module and trigger the samples with the mpc?

yes thats an idea.
in fact i already do it, its just that mpc got more ram to keep samplez in memory and given that i work with tons of chopped breaxx it might had been quicker with the mpc,
so ill keep the pitch shiftable breax on the 950
and the rest on the mpc.

There is no pitch bend on the 2kxl.

You will not find pitch bend in the manual, it doesn't exist.

the mpc 2000 and the XL has midi pitch bend only, U can not pitch bend a PGM or a sample sound using a pitch bend, or the wheel

it is kinda odd dont ya think? a modern-concept based machine like mpc2kxl that doesnt support pitchbend or pan pot control over his own programs,
while the oldskool 950 does...

No.
The MPC was designed as Percussion sampler.
Musicians do not normally pitch bend kicks, hats and snares.

MPC's have a wimpy sampler but have a kiss arse sequencer.

Need pitchbend? Buy an MPC4000 which has a real sampler in it.

I bought my MPC to compose percussion ensembles. No pitch bend is effing up my Timpani parts.

I was kidding around but, pitch shifting is a function that I feel could easily be incorporated into the MPC's OS. As well as a handful of others but thats for a different thread I suppose.

the 4k has more sound mangling features..

Read the 4k or a z sampler's manual. Even an s2000-6000. It does make the mpc sampler look whimpy. Doesn't mean its still not very capable, just lacks features of a real, full-featured sampler.

I definately change pitch on the 2k in a lot of drum sequencing I do which comes in handy. Its not a pitch bend, but with the right tricks you can often get by.

thank u guys, anyway i solved it gettin all the drum samples i wanna pitchbend on the s950, and leavin the non pitche dstuff on the mpc...

i love this lil b**tch's sequencer, in fact i have some gear so im not afraid of the sampler's simplicity.

oh, and , after two weeks of mpc ownage, i did my first al-machines-no-pc liveset, with the lil mpc2kxl commandin everything.

it was awesum.
all i ever wanted from an hardware sequencer.
