Why haven't new os's came out for either the 60 or 3k? :? I don't really know the history or technical side of the mpc, so if something happened with linn so that he isn't able to make any more or because of some technical reasons it can't happen, I wouldn't know. :(

The last "AKAI BRANDED OS" for the MPC3000, version 3.11 DOES NOT load on an MPC60/MPC60MK2/ASQ10.

The after market OS for the MPC60/MPC60MK2/ASQ10 is a product of Roger Linn Design ... www.rogerlinndesign.com , available in ROM only.

What OS is your MPC60MK2 running at the moment ?

Rohan.

Thats all fine and dandy but I wanna know why another hasn't been made. Not when the last one's were made.

Probably because both models are discontinued and no longer sold "new" by akai.

As a business, what would be the point in selling OS upgrades for products that are no longer available from the company? I know what you're going to say - "what about the used market for them?".

But still....it's the same reason companies don't sell a whole lot of blank cassette music tapes....because they have pretty much been phased out.

When's the last time you saw an upgrade for Betamax players? (Grimay, these were similar to VHS VCRs and came out WAY before you were born). since they are phased out and no longer for sale, from a company/business standpoint, it makes no sense to upgrade or improve them. It would be a waste of money for the company.

Feel me?

Yeah I feel what your saying. The 60 is pretty perfect, but I am sure Roger Linn could cook up something to make it...........perfect-ER!<----Not Real Word.

the last for the 60 is 3.10e. no software updaes should be expected, as that was just passing the MPC 3000 software to the 60.

The 3000 had an OS Update by Hardcore users that is available and should be bought on Roms by anyone who loves the machine, since it makes the 3000 perfect-er ;)

but you shouldn't gripe about updates, the machine does it's job, and you hardly know it well, so get through it inside out then maybe start saying something, but right know most of the 60 is unknown to you, so keep at it and dont let envy get the better of you when you check the 1000 forum.

or the 2500 forum :D

No, I was refering to the OS update adding so much to the machine.

The 2500 is nice, but envy is uglyier than hunger no matter what the motivation.

grow son, grow!
Before I even turned on my 3000 I was already asking for undo

Now I've learnt I really dont need it! I mean it would speed up some editing stuff,.. But hey I adjust most by hand anyways. I'm not missing anything now and I only had the baby for ~2 months.

I can't say much on a 60 since I never played/used one but I wouldnt even wann trade a 3k for six 1ks or 2,5ks...

yo wait those could buy me several 3000s!

Yeah I love the 60 the way it is. And I know I haven't even scratched the surface of what it can do. I was just saying if we could expect new features and stuff. But still be able to keep the 12 bit grit and the best sequencer ever made! :D

Unfortunately homey, if you want new features trade in your 60 and cop a modern day machine with all its bells and whistles.....the 60 is it. We're fortunate enough to have the 3.10 upgrade.....I too have asked for an update of some sort, as I saw many flaws or fixes that could've been refined, but let's be considerate for Roger's hard work. This OS has many features that will allow you to do what you want, if you think hard enough. Besides, the fact that the machine is discontinued and no longer supported by Akai is reason enough for you to know why no update is in the works.....C'mon.....you don't see, or hear, people crying for an sp1200 OS upgrade.....You've gotta work with what you've got and make the most of it; otherwise you're better off moving on.
