I just bought my MPC2000xl yesterday so I'm new at this. I've searched the forum but I did'nt find anything on this.

I don't have a 8-out-card installed, I don't really know exactly what it does either.
But I need to record beats from my MPC to my computer.

Can I do that without havin' a 8-out and a mixer? I only got a computer with a Soundblaster Live soundcard and a amplifier. And yea, I gotta Compact Flash-reader wit a 512mb card to it. (Can I maybe save the beats on the card and open them up in the computer?)

Anyone know how I can hook this up? Thanks

you can do it by using the stereo out on the back and going into your soundcard. It's in the manual dude. You'll have to set your soundcard up to recieve it and you'll need software to record and sequence it. You could sample each track, separately and sequence it all on your PC from the stereo out, but you'll get more out of it in the long term if you use the 8 outs and a mixer. You'll be able to track it all at once.

Wanna sell me the 8 out? I'm buying one soon...

How will the quality get if I do that? The same as in the MPC?

But I can't export track by track individually right? That's where the 8-out comes in the picture?
I'd need to do that so i can mix&master in cubase etc.

If you have a shitty sound card, the quality will probably be degraded using the analogue outs.

You could play back each track individually by muting the ones you don't want and then chopping and resequencing them in the PC. It's pointless if you have the 8 out card though. It would' be better with a mixer. So you could do it all at once.

The only other way to do it would be to record the stereo out into the PC. You've then just got a stereo track to play with. doesn't give you much scope for effects etc.

You could use the digital out of the MPC if there is a digital in on your soundcard. There should be no degredation in sound quality that way.

you'll be aight using the outs from the mpc and your computer.

run a cable from the output on your mpc to the input on your soundcard. get some software that can record and record your beat into it.

I'm assuming he only has a stereo input on his card though. OK for a bit, but you're probably gonna wanna go 8 ins when you learn the MP aren't you Sebbelito? Otherwise the 8 out is a pretty pointless extra.

I don't have the 8-out-card, at all... probably gon have to buy it soon though... Cus I want to be able to record/export all tracks i've made on the MP individually to the computer, in stereo (so I can mix them)

But I can export track by track in stereo to the computer just using a caple from the MPC to the soundcard? That's about the same, just that it's takin much more time. I'll try that one out. As soon as I get all my cables home, for the MPC.

Sorry, my baad! Must learn to read properly.

Cool. Yeah, you can do it with stereo outs, but sounds like you're gonna wanna get the 8 out and a mixer soon though.

Good luck, have fun and welcome to the forums.

yea you can do it without the 8 outs. like you said it would take longer. plus you need a way to sync your mpc to the computer so all your tracks will be lined up. but you can do it with a little midi and a little patience.

the 8 outs would be handy but is not necessary.

How can I sync the MPC wit the computer? I've got a midi-keyboard and a midicable...

But what cable do I need to get the MPC to the soundcard? the out/inputs to the soundcard (sb live) is small, u know...the outputcables I've got to the MPC is big.

This shit isn't written in the manual..

if you want to plug your stereo out on the mpc to your soundcard you need a 1/4" to 1/8" cable. the 1/8" is the small plug thats on your soundcard.

as far as syncing your mpc to the computer you need a midi interface or a soundcard that has midi ins/outs on it. i aint real hip to doin all that so I cant really help much there.

Most delta cards have the midi in and outs. For the price their not bad.If you have the doe check it out or Emu.Do a comparision first so you can get an idea of which one is best for you.

how would i connect my mpc to my mbox to track it out? i only have stereo outs as well. would i go from the stereo outs of my mixer into the inputs on the back of the mbox?

i know 8-outs is the shit, but it's pointless for me to waste the money if i only have an mbox; i'd rather track the beat in track-by-track.

fill me in.
